I never ever thought I would experience something like we are right now.  In mid February we started hearing rumblings of the Corona Virus and the effects it was having in other countries.  By March 12th, schools in Tennessee and around the nation began shutting down, and our school system followed suit.  We receive a call stating we would be closed beginning Friday, March 13th through March 27th (which would have been the ending of our Spring Break).  The next week we received a call stating we would be out of school until May 4th.  That's when I realized how serious this virus really was.  The world was experiencing a true Pandemic.  Everything stopped...schools, all sports...professional included, Candlelight Ball canceled, March Madness canceled, Disney closed, hair salons and nail salons closed, really and truly, everything shut down except essential places like gas stations, grocery stores, hospitals, drug stores, and many food places have stayed open offering carry out only.  For our family, the only thing we really missed out on was our Spring Break trip.  We had a trip to Universal Studios and Disney World planned.  But, this was minor...we have already rescheduled this trip for next Spring Break.  We are lucky that we don't have a senior in high school or college missing a graduation ceremony.  We don't have kids missing spring sports.  We don't have kids missing their Prom dances.  So, really and truly, we are extra blessed.  The state of Tennessee issued a Safer at Home order.  Meaning, the only time you leave the house is for an essential trip...buying groceries, picking up medication, etc.  We are not to be around other people.  We are not to be in groups larger than 10, and we are not to be around our most vulnerable population like those that are elderly and those with weaken immune systems.  Team Luther has tried their best to follow these guidelines.  I only leave the house to run essential errands...groceries and food pick up.  Kyle is considered an essential employee so he goes to work each day.  He has actually been busier than ever at the bank.  The economy has been in a slight crisis due to the shut downs.  We have started our own form of home schooling.  Each day the kids have free time until 9ish.  Then we eat breakfast, make beds, and get ready for the day.  We do math, English language arts, and reading each day.  We do art time and PE time.  We are working on Sign Language...because why not?  We have the time!  The kids almost have down the whole alphabet.  Each day we take long walks and play outside.  We have written letters to cousins.  We have organized the house.  We have cleaned.  Each day the kids have chores.  We cook together...A LOT!  I truly feel the kids are learning more than ever about life.  We are learning to work with what we have on hand.  The grocery stores have been low on many products including meat.  You can't find any paper products like toilet paper or paper plates.  It is just crazy!  Luckily, I had recently stocked up on paper products at Sam's, so we are good to go for a bit.  It is just a really strange time in life.  This time has made us stop...slow down...and I am actually loving every single minute of it!  We have spent more time playing games together as a family that we have ever.  It has been a great reset for my family!
