Sounds Game with the Lanhams

This past Saturday night, we went to the Nashville Sounds game with the Lanhams. Kathryn loves going to sporting events, and she loves the Lanhams, so this was a perfect night. Surprisingly, the weather was awesome; we had a little breeze that kept us cooled off. After eating tons of ball park food (which might be my favorite part) and cheering for the Sounds including Ozzie (who Kathryn LOVES...from a far, far distance), we headed home during the 6th inning. Kathryn was getting tired, and there was a firework show planned after the game. Kathryn is terrified of fireworks, so we went on home. We had a wonderful time with great friends!!!!!

Outside Fun

Christina Moss had us and the Hales over for a fun play date. They had a couple of pools filled, a swing set, a trampoline, and a slip and slide. It was an ultimate outside adventure for the kids, and Kathryn had a blast playing with Greyson and Alec. She especially loved being around Ireland; she LOVES babies. We spent the morning playing outside, went in for pizza at lunch, and then spent some time playing inside. It was such a great day. The kids got to play while the mommies got to catch up!

4th of July Weekend 2011

My family (minus my little brother Brandon) gathered at my mom's on July 3rd and spent the day together. We always have the best time when we are together. And, now that we all have kids, it is even more fun. Kathryn LOVES playing with her cousins Garrett, Dakota, and Maxx. And, they all play really well together. We spent the day playing inside and outside and eating lots of yummy food. That evening, we got the kiddos settled on a blanket for fireworks, and after the first one, Kathryn was terrified. We took her inside until they were over. Maybe next year she will like them. We took tons of pics during the day. Below are a few of my favorites...

Kathryn as of lately

Kathryn has been a busy gal this summer! And, she continues to keep us on our toes and keeps us rolling in the floor laughing.

Some of her latest funnies...
1. The song Roll Up by Wiz Kalifa...she thinks it's Buckle Up and sings it that way
2. Instead of saying, "Yes I am," she says, "Yes my am." It's just cute.
3. She is so matter of fact when she speaks and most of the time sounds just like her mommy. For example, the other day she informed me I had two options and I needed to make a decision. Then went on to ask me what I wanted for dinner.

Current likes...
1. Orange
2. Kitties
3. Therefore, she says almost daily she wants an orange kitty
4. Rhianna songs
5. Any "Girl Song" which means any song a girl is singing
6. Disney movies: Enchanted, Snow White, Cinderella, and Beauty and the Beast
7. Purses and any type of bag for her "important stuff"
8. Taking paper and tearing it into small pieces which becomes her "important stuff"
9. Books: What Makes a Rainbow and pretty much any book
10. TV shows: Dora, Toot and Puddle, and Syd the Science Kid
11. Foods: Spicy Chips (aka BBQ Chips), M & M's, Special Orange M & M's (aka Reece Pieces), Orange Cheese (Kraft Singles), any kind of sauce...ranch, bbq, ketchup, honey mustard, etc., donuts (especially donut holes), black olives, smoothies, and pink (strawberry) or orange (sherbert) ice cream.

Kathryn is such a blessing to us. She makes everyday more fun and fills our hearts with so much love and joy. We are blessed!

Last minute day trip to Chattanooga

Last Sunday we took Kathryn to the Chattanooga Aquarium. This was a last minute road trip, and we were excited that Momma Pam, Mimi, and Papa wanted to tag along with us! We spent several hours seeing all the animals at the aquarium. Kathryn's favorite were the penguins. And, those were my favorite too! The aquarium was really nice, and we all had fun. After that we went to lunch at TGIFridays and then got ice cream from Ben & Jerry's. To end the day road trip, we went to the Creative Discovery Museum. Kathryn had an absolute blast playing in all the areas of the museum. Her favorite sections were the dinosaur area where she played in the sand and the doctor area. Even though everyone was exhausted at the end of the day, we had a wonderful time!

A Summer Picnic

I love summer for many reasons but having a family picnic is at the top of the list. Last week we took Kathryn on a picnic, and she loved every minute of the picnic too. She was excited to eat so she could go play on the playground afterwards. The weather was perfect for dining outside. For our picnic dinner we enjoyed turkey sandwiches, fresh fruit, bbq chips, and oreos. It was a perfect date!

The Royal Playa del Carmen

The resort

AF '11...On a Mission

I am a little behind, but none the less, we went to Playa del Carmen, Mexico from June 26 - July 2. We went with the Jenkins, Moores, and Rosses. We had an absolute blast! The Royal was an all inclusive, adults only resort, and it was awesome. The place was very clean and the food was outstanding. Kyle and I have traveled to many all inclusive resorts, and the food is usually average. The food at The Royal was very gourmet and delicious. The drinks were plentiful and just as yummy. We arrived on a rainy Sunday and were bummed to not catch any rays our first few hours there, but this actually gave us time to get settled in our rooms and familiarize ourselves with the resort. Monday was pretty rainy as well. We spent some time outside, but most of the day was spent in the lobby playing cards (P&A) and partaking in fun drinks (we didn't finish "the menu" but we came close). Tuesday was a great day spent poolside. We had the perfect spot (we named it The Stage) everyday. It was a secluded group of 6 lounge chairs, and we also grabbed a cabana each day. The Stage was right above the swim up bar, and therefore access was quick. We also had easy access to the pool and a wonderful view of the beach/ocean. Wednesday, Kyle and I spent the day lounging, reading, napping, etc. while the rest of the party ventured out for an excursion. Kyle and I aren't really excursion type people, but we did enjoy some quality time together. Thursday, we spent pretty much the whole day playing pool volleyball. I love pool volleyball, but sometimes the boys get a little too competitive. After a few games, I retired back to my lounge chair. Thursday night, we went out downtown. It was neat seeing the local spots and just the general set up of the town. We ended up at Senor Frogs and spent some time there. Friday was another busy day poolside and the day ended at the Spa where I partook in the spa room (hot tub, steam room, sauna, etc.) and then had a spa pedicure. Friday night we didn't stay out too late. No one wanted to party too hard since we were leaving the next day. Saturday morning, I woke up early to watch the sunrise. That was a tranquil experience. I can't remember ever watching the sunrise, and seeing it rise above the ocean was really relaxing. The rest of the morning was spent on The Stage hearing and watching the waves crash on the shore....which by the way, is the BEST sound and sight in this world. We had to leave our resort at noon, and although I was sad to leave, I was excited at the same time because I was ready to see my sweet girl! Just a few fun notes from this trip....
1. CocoaBongo...BEST IDEA EVER
2. Blake's Birthday
3. Wilson!!!!!
4. Comparti
5. Tiger and the Chicken Wings
6. The Infested Hot Tub
7. No snacks in the Lobby
8. Ben's Twin
9. The "Signs" at Senor Frogs
10. Finding LIMES at the bar and Ben and Blake helping the bartenders
