Weekend Wrap Up: Athens Style

This past weekend Kyle and I headed to Athens, GA to watch our nephew Dakota play in a his football game, and we went to the Georgia/LSU game Saturday.  It was a great weekend!  Dakota played a great game Friday night (and I was so excited to watch him play), and Saturday was spent all day tailgating.  Athens was crazy packed!  ESPN College Gameday was there along with millions of Georgia and LSU fans.  Georgia won, which meant downtown afterwards was even more packed than usual.  We stayed downtown for a bit, and ended the night at Locos. And to top off the weekend, after a 6 hour drive home (got home around 3), Kathryn and I along with Mimi and Momma Pam left our house at 4 to grab dinner and go to Nashville to see Beauty and the Beast at TPAC.  The show was AMAZING, and Kathryn loved it too.  There were a few parts that "surprised" her...that was her way of saying she was scared a couple of times.  THANK YOU to Mimi for the tickets, and thanks to Momma Pam for a yummy dinner.  I am so glad Kathryn gets to experience things like this.  She truly enjoys going to plays, and I do too!

Weekend wrap up

This weekend was tons of fun.  Friday night, Kyle and I went to his Kiwanis Officer Installation Dinner (Kyle is serving as Treasurer for a second year).  Saturday, Kathryn and I shopped a little and then went to a baby shower for my friend Tishia Johnson.  Sunday, Kyle and I along with Rob and Stephanie Lanham and Eric and Amanda Huneycutt went to the Titans versus Chargers game.  We had a blast tailgating and watching the game.  It was a perfect day for football, friends, and fun.

A little bit of lately...

Last week, Kaden had pneumonia.  Kyle and I along with Kaden's teachers, thought he was teething, but last Thursday morning, Kyle said he knew something more was going on, so Mimi took him to the doctor and sure enough...Pneumonia.  Kyle and I had no major plans for the weekend, so we were able to keep Kaden home and resting.  Friday night, Kyle and I went to an APSU dinner (we didn't stay long since Kaden had been sick), and the only time we left the house on Saturday was to attend a wedding.  Luckily, Mimi was able to help out with the kiddos last week and over the weekend so Kyle and I could work the whole week and attend those events together.  Sunday after church, Kaden seemed in much better spirits, so we decided to go to the zoo to see the new kangaroo exhibit.  Momma Pam and Maxx went with us.  It was a beautiful day to be outside.  The kids had a blast, and I did too!  We are all glad that Kaden is on the mend, and we are looking forward to another fun weekend ahead!!!

Lucky Me!

I know my life is not perfect...but it is my life and I am in a great place spiritually, emotionally, and physically.  I have learned a lot about myself during this past year.  I have learned about letting go, forgiveness, and moving forward.  Kyle and I have joined a great Sunday School class, and my relationship with God continues to grow.  I have the best job in this world.  I never knew I would enjoy working this much.  I have always liked every job I have ever had, but now I am in a job I love.  I do wish I had more time to spend with my friends.  I feel like since school has started back that I only have time for work and family.  Hopefully things will settle down soon, and I will have a little more room in my day to see my girlfriends because I am sure missing them.  I am truly a blessed woman!

Kaden as of Now...1 Year, 1 Month, and 7 Days Old

He is a healthy, sweet boy that stays busy.  He absolutely LOVES his sleep sack.  He also loves Bailey and gets so excited to take Bailey outside.  Kaden is understanding so much of what we say, for example, "Do you want to take Bailey outside?", "Do you want to eat/drink?", "Are you ready for night, night?" (in which case he gets super excited and starts sucking his two middle fingers).  These are just a few examples.  He knows what he doesn't want...If you try to feed him a food that he does not want to eat, he will shake his head no.  He is saying "Bye, Bye."  And it is so cute because I can tell how focused he is when saying it.  He is generally happy unless he is tired or hungry.  He loves to play with his toys (and Kathryn's toys).  He does not like to stay in the same spot for long.  He is definitely a busy body.  He is full time walking and climbing up the stairs. His bed time is 6:30 (many nights he goes to bed before that by choice), and he wakes at 7:00 (Daddy has to wake him up).  He eats a TON.  He generally has oatmeal for breakfast, will have 2 lunches, afternoon snack (which a lot of times is another meal), and a big dinner.  He loves his milk, and he loves water too.  His favorite foods include bananas, hot dogs, cheese, any kind of bread, and puffs/Gerber snacks.  Some of his favorite toys include the mini red piano, Kathryn's play kitchen dishes (especially the play eating utensils), building barrels, and pretty much anything that is not a toy.  He keeps us on our toes, but we certainly could not imagine life without our sweet boy!

Kathryn as of now...5 years, 1 month, and 5 days old

Kathryn is full of life.  She pretty much loves everything and is so easy going.  She is absolutely loving kindergarten and is eager to learn.  Some of her current favorites include art/crafts, gymnastics, dancing and listening to music, watching Nick Jr. or Disney Jr., going to church, "stay home days," playing with her baby brother, playing in the bath, playing pretend (house, school, doctor, etc), ducky (although she has done very well leaving him during the school day), reading books (technically having books read to her), mac and cheese, chocolate milk, and playing with friends.  Kathryn has a kind heart.  She always wants to help those in need.  She loves making cards for people and is always eager to send Thank You cards for those that give her anything.  She loves to get mail and to send mail.  She enjoys playing on her Nabi or the Ipad.  Her all time favorite pastime at this point is art.  If you give her paper, scissors, tape, and colors, she will be happy for hours.  Her current bedtime is 7:30 and she generally sleeps until 7:00 the next morning.  She is a pretty good eater and will generally try anything.  She loves to snack in between meals and always asks for a popsicle after dinner.  She reminds me a lot of myself.  So much of what she says and how she says it sounds just like me.  She is without a doubt a "Momma's girl," and even though it can be exhausting, I wouldn't want it any other way.

Weekend Wrap Up

This past weekend was fun and relaxing.  Friday night we decided to go support our Hawks at the RHS/CHS Football game.  It was tons of fun, and even though we didn't stay for the whole game, the kids were well behaved while we were there and had fun.  Saturday, Kathryn and I went to a wedding ceremony together, and after that, we all went to Mimi and Papa's for dinner.  Sunday after church, Mimi and I took the kids to get new shoes for this fall.  Kathryn is still a good shopper...Kaden on the other hand was not loving it.  Hopefully he will do better as he gets older.  The kids did get some great shoes, and I got an awesome dress.  A big thanks to Mimi for treating us all!!!
