Weekend Wrap Up

This past weekend was the 28th Annual APSU Candlelight Ball.  This is an event we look forward to each year.  Our first year attending was in 2007.  It quickly became our favorite fundraiser of the year.  Saturday morning, we got up early (had our traditional Chick Fil A breakfast), and then we started packing up for the night.  I took Bailey to the clinic, and my mom got here early to pick up Kathryn.  We headed on to the Hilton to get checked into our room and settled in to snack and watch basketball.  A few friends met up with us to preparty, eat, and drink.  I love to preparty!  Even though I couldn't partake this year, it was still lots of fun hanging out with everyone.  Then we all got ready and headed down to the social hour.  The ball began and after eating a delicious dinner, Kyle was presented his Spirit Award.  I am very proud of Kyle and his accomplishments.  I can't think of anyone more deserving for this award.  Afterwards, we danced and enjoyed being with friends.  For the post party, we went to The Big Bang.  This is one of our favorite places to go in Nashville.  Kyle and I stayed out until 12:30, and then we headed back to the hotel.  This mommy to be was pretty worn out.  Sunday, we went to Hoptown to pick up Kathryn and watched the UK/Vandy game.  Sunday evening was spent at home trying to rest up (which is nearly impossible with a 3 year old.  Even though I was super exhausted Sunday, it was well worth all the fun had on Saturday.  Below are a few of my favorite pics from Saturday night...Great weekend!!!!!

A Fashionista!

Everyday when we come home from school, Kathryn loves to change her outfit.  Check out yesterday's selection...
Tiger Ears Headband (with her white bow still in her hair), Green, Black, and Gold Mardi Gras Beads, a Ring (can't really see in this pic), her Dress Black Shoes (on the wrong feet), and her pink Monkey Bar Buddy shorts...she was quite proud of how the outfit all came together!

A Typical 3 Year Old

Well, yesterday after school...it happened...Kathryn pulled the most typical 3 year old stunt yet.  After school, we have a routine when we get home.  Kathryn gets a snack and watches a Nick Jr. Show (usually Max and Ruby, her current favorite) while I take Bailey out and get things squared away.  As I am straightening up, Kathryn informs me, "Mommy, I have an M&M in my nose, and I can't get it out."  I (dumbfounded and shocked) ask, "Why is there an M&M in your nose?"  Kathryn replies, "I put it there."  Well, that makes sense.  In the midst of it all, she keeps telling me how sorry she is.  I try to get the M&M out with my finger nail, but I was unsuccessful.  Then, I had Kathryn blow her nose really hard, and luckily the BLUE M&M came out.  For just a second, I was slightly panicked, but in the end, all was well.  I explained to Kathryn that we couldn't put things in our nose.  I hope this is the last time she tries this particular stunt.
The aftermath...Blue kept seeping from her nose...even an hour later

Red Barn Daily Events Log

Everyday, Kathryn gets an event log of her daily activities.  Yesterday's Child Specific Note read:
Kathryn is so creative.  Every morning she starts a picture and then works on it throughout the day.  She shows her persistence and returns until the task is done.
Not sure why, but this little note just made me smile.  She is the sweetest girl!

Catching Up

I just found some cute pictures on my camera...These were taken last week.  February was unseasonably warm (like temps in the upper 60's and 70's...insane!) this year, and therefore we were able to spend many afternoons playing outside.  Here are a few of Kathryn riding her bike with Daddy's help...

And, last Wednesday, Kathryn and I had a dinner date.  Kyle went to the first round of the OVC tourney to watch the Govs play.  Since the game didn't begin until 8:00 and was in Nashville, I decided to keep Kathryn at home.  None the less, we had a delicious dinner at Red Lobster (one of Kathryn's favorite places to eat), and then we spent the evening at home playing and watching TV.  I love mommy/daughter time!!!

Weekend Wrap Up

This past weekend was lots of fun for the Luther Family.  Friday night, we stayed home.  This momma was in bed and asleep by 8:30...success!  Saturday morning, we had our ritual Chick Fil A breakfast (as always, thank you Daddy for getting that each Saturday morning).  Then Kathryn and I got ready and went to Avery Russell's princess themed 4th bday party.  Kathryn had an absolute blast playing on the bounce house with her friends (tons of her Red Barn classmates were there).  She also enjoyed making a crown and decorating a wand.  Avery's mommy Mary Beth did a great job on the party.  After the party, we picked up Daddy and headed to Nashville to meet some friends to watch the UT/Vandy bball game.  We met up at Cross Corner in Brentwood.  There was a small game room area that had a machine filled with little rubber ducks.  As everyone knows, Kathryn LOVES ducks (hence her Ducky).  Kathryn was pretty dead set on winning a duck.  After just $1.50, Daddy won her a duck.  Our table cheered as well as a few others around us.  It was too funny!  Shortly after JR decided he would try to win a duck too, and he was just as successful.  Exciting times for Kathryn...as the ducks were dropped into the tunnel, she was jumping up and down.  After the game, we went to JR and Kailey's to hang out.  Kathryn always has the best time with the Hands because she loves to play with JR.  JR will chase and tickle her, and Kathryn thinks that's the best thing ever.  It is truly too sweet.  Sunday was spent at home.  We decided to skip church.  I was not feeling great, and Kathryn had spent much of the night coughing.  It was really nice being lazy all day, and Kathryn played so well for the entire day.  We watched basketball, played, rested, and ate junk food.  We had pretty much the perfect weekend!!!

Above are pictures from the birthday party fun!

Writing her name

After modeling how to write her name, Kathryn gave it a try.  Looks good to this momma!
