Weekend Wrap Up

This weekend was another fun one!  Friday night, Kathryn went to her first Predators Hockey game.  Uncle Michael, Mimi, and Papa took her.  She enjoyed TONS of good food and got a Preds sweatshirt and t-shirt.  She definitely had a blast and is already talking about going to another game.  Saturday, we went to the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast and then headed to Hoptown.  We had a great time playing with Momma Hope and Momma Pam.  Sunday, we went to church and then to the APSU baseball game.  This was Kaden's first baseball game.  He slept most of the game...I guess he wasn't super impressed.  Weekends like this remind me how blessed I am to have such a sweet, loving family.  God is good!

Old Chicago Dinner Date for Four

Saturday night, we went to Old Chicago for dinner.  As always, it was delish!  Above are a few pics I snapped.  Kathryn has worn her tiara A LOT lately.  She loves it, and she wears it out most of the time...too funny!  And, her new favorite game...Playing Tic Tac Toe with Daddy.  She gets so excited when there is a "spot" to play on the kids' menu.  Another funny Kathrynism...As I was combing her hair over the weekend, I said, "Kathryn, your hair is knotty today."  She replies, "Sometimes the princess gets knots."  She totally cracks me up!!!

This weekend was pretty low key (which was much needed and appreciated!).  Friday, Kaden got his flu shot (and he didn't cry...such a big boy!).  We met up with Mimi and Papa at Rafferty's for a yummy dinner, and then we went home and went to bed...perfect night!  Saturday, we were pretty lazy.  Time was spent playing and watching TV.  Kyle went to the APSU baseball game, and that night we went to dinner at Old Chicago.  Sunday, we went to church and again spent the rest of the day at home.  Sunday night, I met up with Haven, Fran, and Brittnye for dinner.  It was fun having a little girl time, and it was much needed!  Monday, both Kyle and I had the day off, and day care was open.  Kyle took the kids to school, and we had a day of running errands and just being together getting some things done.  We picked up the kids Monday afternoon, took Kathryn to play at a park, then got her hair trimmed, and finished the night with dinner and Chick Fil A and yogurt at Berry Bear (Kathryn's treat for her hair cut).  I love weekends like this...relaxed, productive, and filled with family time!

Flowers for me!

And these are the flowers that were sent to me... Along with a box of chocolates and some bath and body products.

Kaden's Valentine to Us

This was given to me yesterday.   I love it and definitely plan to frame it.

Valentines Lunch

Daddy's lunch date yesterday...at McDonald's...Kathryn's choice!

Work...Ain't Nobody Got Time For That!

UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Life has been overwhelmingly busy.  Everyday when I get home, I feel like we are on Amazing Race.  I really struggle with being the Wife I want to be, being the Mommy I want to be, being the Friend I want to be, being the Teacher I want to be, and the list goes on.  I feel like I am only able to give 50% in each area, and I really want to give 110% in all areas.  So, I have concluded that if I didn't work, I would be a better Wife, Mother, Friend, etc.  However, since I need to work, I just have to find the right balance.  Until then, I am counting down the days until Summer Break!

Happy Valentine's Day 2013

This Valentine's Day was extra special because I had another Valentine in my life....my sweet boy Kaden!  We have never been the type of family to go overboard this holiday, so once again, this year we kept it simple but sweet.  Kathryn was so excited about her party at school this year.  She picked out Tinker Bell Valentines for her girl friends and Jake and the Neverland Pirates Valentines for her boy friends.  She was so serious about picking out her cards.  It was so sweet!  For her teachers, she made cute I Love You cards, and I baked and packaged up homemade chocolate chip cookies for her and Kaden's teachers.  Kathryn also made up goodie bags (filled with treats, an activity book, and a pen) for her friends at school.  At school today, I got several sweet treats from my students.  I also got roses from Kyle with a very sweet note.  Kyle also sent roses to Kathryn at school (she was the only one her class to receive flowers).  And, on top of that, Kyle took Kathryn to lunch today.  He plans to make this a tradition (he started this either last year or the year before).  None the less, he wants Kathryn to know that she will always be his Valentine...SO SWEET (and Thank You Tara Gant for making this suggestion a couple of years ago)!  Tonight for dinner, we went to the Luthers.  We enjoyed a yummy steak dinner and time with family.  Then we went home, got the kiddos to bed, and went to bed ourselves.  I am so blessed to have two of the sweetest children in this whole world and a husband that is a wonderful father.  Happy Valentine's Day!

Kaden is Loving his baby food

This past Saturday, Kaden had "solid" food for the first time...peas.  He really liked them.  Since then he has had pears, and he really loves them!  Up next for him to try...Sweet Potatoes and Bananas.  I am sure he is going to love it all.  And, I love how excited he is getting about his food.  However, he still LOVES his bottle and gets more excited about it.  He is so sweet and cute!!!

Benadryl Effects...

This is what taking Benadryl did to Kathryn...5 minutes into the APSU game, she was passed out!

Weekend Wrap Up

We had a busy and fun weekend!  Saturday morning, I helped host a baby shower for Becky.  She is having twin girls, and I can't wait to meet them!  Our theme for the shower was a vintage/anthropology bird theme.  We stuck with neutral colors and used pops of color with twin felt birdies.  The shower was a total success.

Saturday evening, Kyle and I took the kids to Hananoki for dinner before the APSU game.  And, this is where we made the discovery that Kathryn is most likely allergic to shell fish.  After eating several bites of shrimp, she broke out in whelps.  After dinner, we headed to the pharmacy to get benadryl.  I really felt like Will Smith in the movie Hitch for a split second.  I was opening the package and having Kathryn drink it before we even paid for it.  None the less, the meds knocked her out.  She was fast asleep in my lap at the APSU game no more than 5 minutes into the game.  Needless to say, we left at half time.  Sunday was church day.  After church and lunch, the rest of the day was spent at home.  It was the perfect ending to a fun weekend.

Surgery is Over!

Kaden's surgery is done and over, Praise God!  This past Wednesday, we went to Vanderbilt Children's for his hypospadias repair.  The surgery went well.  The doctor was very pleased with everything.  And, this momma only cried twice (when they took him back for surgery and after talking to the doctor post surgery).  In recovery, Kaden looked so pitiful.  He was so sleepy and hoarse.  But, he was extra snuggly.  None the less, this is all behind us and now we can focus on healing.  He will go back on March 8th for a follow up.  Until then, we have several restrictions, but it is nothing too crazy.  God is Good!!!!!

Pre Surgery Nap with Daddy
In Pre Op...Prior to surgery, he was so happy and "talked" a lot...the nurses all laughed and thought he was really cute...and they talked about how chunky he was...I was so thankful he was in a good mood despite the fact he couldn't eat that morning
