Kathryn's Current Favorites

Seems like it's been awhile since doing one of these...

1. Max and Ruby...most afternoons she wants to watch it non-stop...thank goodness for DVR!
2. Make up and painted nails...my girly girl
3. Jewelry...she loves to wear necklaces, bracelets, and rings
4. Headbands...good bye bows, hello handbands (don't worry, I buy the headbands with a bow on them)
5. Skittles...her new favorite treat at basketball games
6. The Governor (at the APSU games)...no game is complete without giving him a high five and/or hug
7. Bedtime stories...Jonah and the Big Fish, The Curious Cat, and 10 Apples Up on Top
8. Using Adjectives...she is becoming very descriptive when speaking...frequently uses words like fantastic, delicious, great, etc...and she is so articulate when speaking...cracks me up!
9. Playing on Daddy's Ipad...she has several apps she absolutely loves
10. Her lime green Snowman shirt and boots (her Hunter rain boots or Cowgirl boots)
11. Using the word "Very"...she uses it out of context, but it is too cute to correct...for example, she will say, "I very want a snack" or "I very much want a snack"
12. Sunglasses

And her oldie but goodie favorites...
1. Ducky
2. Bitty Baby Evie

Weekend Wrap Up...

We had a busy and fun weekend...sadly, I took no pictures to document the weekend.  Friday night, we went to the Hawkins for pizza and a playdate.  Avery is one of Kathryn's best friends, and they love playing together.  They spent lots of time running around, making messes, and playing with baby Sara.  While the girls played, the parents got to play cards (one of our favorite things to do).  The girls finished the night by watching TV together.  When we got ready to leave, Kathryn had a huge meltdown...she didn't want to leave and she was exhausted...basically a "fun" combination.  Saturday morning, Kathryn went to Mimi and Papa's house while I went to traffic school and Kyle went to an APSU event.  The afternoon was spent at home playing and getting ready for the APSU basketball game.  Before the ball game, we went to eat at Blackhorse with several other couples.  The food was delish and the company even better!  Sunday was "Church Day" as Kathryn calls it.  After church, we went to lunch at Red Lobster (Kathryn got to actually touch a lobster from the tank...she was pretty excited).  She said the lobster felt "wet."  The rest of the day was spent at home playing.  Kathryn and I had a pretend bday party, we played on the Ipad, and watched a little Nick Jr.  We had a wonderful weekend...now time to gear up for a busy week!!!!!  Happy Monday Everyone!

Bath Time Fun

Winter 2009
January 2012
Kathryn has really grown over the past 3 years...SIGH!!!

Chuck E Cheese Please!

For the past couple of weeks, Kathryn has asked about going to Chuck E Cheese.  We keep telling her that Chuck E Cheese is not open (hey, gotta use this while we still can!).  So, on Monday, Kathryn had a follow up appointment from being sick last week, and after that appointment, I decided I would take her to play.  She LOVES Chuck E Cheese.  She really enjoyed this Sponge Bob bowling game and the carousel.  A couple of times she wanted to go see Chuck E on the stage, but as we would get closer (like 50 feet away) she would say, "That's okay, this is close enough."  She is still a little bit afraid, and that's okay with me.  We played for over an hour and had a great time.  Chuck E Cheese is not too bad on a Monday afternoon before school lets out.
Loving the ride
Cashing in her tickets...she got stickers and a box of Nerds

Weekend Wrap Up

Alex, Dugger, and Kathryn
This past weekend was packed with lots of fun and was the perfect ending to an extremely busy week.  Kathryn had been pretty sick all week.  She went home Tuesday morning from daycare and didn't go back for the rest of the week.  By Saturday, she had been on her antibiotic (treating strep throat) for a few days, and she was feeling much, so we ventured to Haven's for a clothing show and afterwards went to Chick Fil A with the Callis girls.  Kathryn loves to go to Haven's.  And, she loves to play with Faith and Mary Brynlee, so it was a great day for her.  Saturday evening was spent at home being lazy for the rest of the night.  Sunday, we headed to church and after went to Nashville to visit with the Burch family.  Kathryn had not played with Alex and Dugger in a long time, so this playdate was well overdue.  It was a fun and relaxing weekend!

Kathryn loves the Governor

For the past...ummmm...well, pretty much all her life...Kathryn has been terrified of the Governor.  During the last couple of games, she has quickly warmed up to him and now, she LOVES the Governor.  Each game, she wants to see him up close and give him high fives and hugs.  It is the sweetest!  Obviously, I had to capture the moment...

Family Portrait

Yesterday, Kathryn brought home her first hand drawn family portrait.  I think I might have to frame it...

I am not really sure what is on the bottom half of the paper, but I LOVE that she included Bailey and Ducky...So Sweet!!!!!

A playdate kind of weekend

This past weekend was playdate packed, and Kathryn and I enjoyed every second of it.  Friday after school, we met up with Rachel and Emerie to play at the park (the afternoon temps have been around 60, and for January this is a rarity, so we have taken full advantage).  After playing, the four of us headed to Rafferty's for dinner.  YUMMY!

Saturday morning, we went to the Adventure Science Center in Nashville for a playdate with the Callis girls.  Kathryn LOVES playing with Faith and Mary Brynlee.  And, Brooke is one of my best friends (we go way back to Rush Week Fall 2000), so we always enjoy time to catch up with one another.  This was Kathryn's first trip to this museum, and she had a blast.  It was perfect for her age.  I am thinking we might need a family membership!

Saturday evening was the APSU/Murray game.  Momma Pam came to Clarksville, and we all went to the game.  Kathryn was a little tired, and at the game it showed (she had a meltdown over Kyle going to buy her hotdog instead of me going...go figure!).  I was hoping on our return from Nashville she would take a nap, but she did not.  However, she was (for the most part) pretty good during the game.  APSU lost this time, but I am hopeful we will beat them in the OVC Tourney.

Sunday was spent at home, being extremely lazy and catching up with things around the house.  It was the perfect ending to a great weekend!

Looking back at 2011

I cannot believe it is 2012.  Where did the last year go?!?!?!  As I look back at the past year, I am filled with happiness.  We had an amazingly blessed year.  Kyle and I took many trips...Vegas, Cabo, Playa del Carmen, Chicago, Tunica, Memphis, Tallahassee, and Athens.  I took a girls trip to New York.  We had lots of family fun adventures including a trip to Chattanooga.  2011 was a wonderful year spent with family and friends we love.

It wouldn't be a new year without resolutions, so I have made a couple...
1. Cook and eat at home.  We eat out way too much!
2. Spend less and save more money.  We want to have quite a bit of cash saved up when we build, the more we can save, the faster we can build.
3. Keep a clear calendar.  I am all about planning and doing things, but I want to focus on keeping a few nights open each week.  I would like to have no more than 3-4 scheduled things a week.

I am looking forward to 2012 and all the excitement a new year brings.  Happy 2012!!!

Ringing in 2012

This year, we went to Memphis for New Years.  We left on Thursday morning and came back Sunday afternoon.  We had an absolute blast!  Vandy was playing in the Liberty Bowl on New Year's Eve, so we attended many events leading up to the game.  Thursday night was spent at BB Kings for the Coach's Show.  Friday was the Liberty Bowl parade down Beale Street followed by a couple of other events ending at the Hard Rock Cafe.  Saturday was game day.  We had an awesome suite on the 50 yard line and field passes.  Before the game, we spent time on the field watching the guys warm up.  We went back to the suite until the 4th quarter.  Then we headed back down to watch the rest of the game on the field.  It was quite an experience being on the field for the game.  Sunday, we got on up and headed back home.  We had the best time this weekend...eating lots of yummy food, watching the game, and ringing in 2012 with great friends.  GOOD TIMES!!!!!

Christmas Night at Momma Pam's

This year, we went to Momma Pam's on Christmas evening.  We had fun celebrating the holiday with Momma Pam, Momma Hope, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Aimee, and Maxx.  First we opened presents.  Kathryn loved the desk Momma Pam had for her.  The desk was filled with paper, stickers, notecards, colors, etc.  It was a perfect gift.  Kathryn received a TON of gifts.  Some of her favorites were her princess costumes and shoes, her make up case filled with lots of accessories, her music box, and her doll accessories (a carrier, a sippy cup, and clothes).  She also received a camera, and she has already taken tons of pictures.  Kathryn racked up this year!  But again, she seemed so appreciative of every single gift.  She wanted to completely open each gift and play with each item right away.  When she opened her princess outfits, she looked at Daddy and said, "I want to be a princess."  Kyle said, "We can put those on later."  Kathryn said, "I want to be a princess now."  Needless to say, she had multiple outfit changes while we opened gifts.  For dinner that night, we had a delicious Italian meal.  It was a wonderful night spent with family.

Christmas Day 2011

We had a wonderful Christmas this year.  Everything is so magical, and I love experiencing this time of year with Kathryn.  Kathryn didn't wake up until almost 8:00 on Christmas morning.  When she woke up, she came downstairs and immediately got into my lap.  I think she was a little overwhelmed with Momma Pam, Mimi, and Papa being there and on top of that, seeing new toys.  After a few minutes of snuggling with me, she got down, and we showed her all the things Santa left.  She seemed very excited about everything.  She LOVED her trampoline and basketball goal.  And, she enjoyed going through all the goodies in her stocking.  The one thing she asked for repeatedly was a bike, and Santa delivered.  However, I think she was a little bit afraid of it.  She tried riding it in the house, but she has not mastered it quite yet.  After playing with all the goodies Santa left out for her, she opened presents from Mommy and Daddy.  Kathryn seemed to really like everything she got, and she was so sincere when saying thank you.  I think we are raising an appreciative little girl (I hope so at least).  After all the presents were opened, we all sat down together and ate a big breakfast.  The rest of the morning was spent playing and resting.  It was a perfect Christmas morning!!!
