Kathryn Update

Kathryn is our big 1st grader!  She has Ms. Kean, and she loves her teacher and loves going to school.  1st grade has been a bit busier as far as homework, but Kathryn knocks it out each week.  And, she goes above and beyond...instead of doing the mandatory 3 assignments each week...she does all 9 assignments (and gets to go to the treasure box at school).  Kathryn has been on the Enrichment words for the last two weeks and has made over 100 on all her spelling tests so far this year.  She is doing a great job with reading and math too.  She has not moved a clip (for behavior) all year either.  We are so proud of her!!!  Each week, she has earned a trip to Beary Bear (her choice), and we all celebrate her great week academically and behaviorally.  Kathryn has been my sidekick for the past couple of months.  She has traveled to lots of meetings with me, appointments with me, and pretty much running around crazy with me.  I love having her tag along!  She is certainly a blessing in our lives!!!

Kathryn's current favorites at  6 years, one month, and 2 days old...
1. Ducky...he is a constant for her...seriously!
2. Crafting...she is our crafting queen
3. Organizing...lately, she has been into color separating things (hair ties, beads, etc.)
4. Disney Jr. Shows like Sofia the First and Doc McStuffins...I LOVE that she still loves cartoons!
5. Mac and Cheese, yogurt, black olives, chips, and spaghetti are a few fav foods
6. Any Fancy Nancy books
7. Her American Girl dolls and accessories
8. Riding her bike and playing outside
9. Playing on the Ipad
10. Playing board games (Candyland is a favorite!)
11. Her baby brother Kaden...she absolutely loves him.  She is such a great big sister!!!

Milestones...
1. Kathryn has always had an amazing vocabulary...she uses big words and uses them correctly in context.
2. Independence...she is so independent and needs very little from us.
3. She will play for hours by herself in her room while Kaden naps.
4. Swimming!  Kathryn became an independent swimmer over the summer!
5. Academics in general...reading, writing (has great handwriting), math, etc.

Routines...
Kathryn goes to bed at 7:30 PM and Kyle has to wake her at 6:30 AM on school days (otherwise she will sleep until 7 or so).  At bedtime, she likes to be read to and often she reads a book on her own too.  And, we always read a Bible story from her Bible Stories book.  She says the best prayers before falling asleep.  She truly is the sweetest girl!!!
