AF '11...On a Mission

I am a little behind, but none the less, we went to Playa del Carmen, Mexico from June 26 - July 2. We went with the Jenkins, Moores, and Rosses. We had an absolute blast! The Royal was an all inclusive, adults only resort, and it was awesome. The place was very clean and the food was outstanding. Kyle and I have traveled to many all inclusive resorts, and the food is usually average. The food at The Royal was very gourmet and delicious. The drinks were plentiful and just as yummy. We arrived on a rainy Sunday and were bummed to not catch any rays our first few hours there, but this actually gave us time to get settled in our rooms and familiarize ourselves with the resort. Monday was pretty rainy as well. We spent some time outside, but most of the day was spent in the lobby playing cards (P&A) and partaking in fun drinks (we didn't finish "the menu" but we came close). Tuesday was a great day spent poolside. We had the perfect spot (we named it The Stage) everyday. It was a secluded group of 6 lounge chairs, and we also grabbed a cabana each day. The Stage was right above the swim up bar, and therefore access was quick. We also had easy access to the pool and a wonderful view of the beach/ocean. Wednesday, Kyle and I spent the day lounging, reading, napping, etc. while the rest of the party ventured out for an excursion. Kyle and I aren't really excursion type people, but we did enjoy some quality time together. Thursday, we spent pretty much the whole day playing pool volleyball. I love pool volleyball, but sometimes the boys get a little too competitive. After a few games, I retired back to my lounge chair. Thursday night, we went out downtown. It was neat seeing the local spots and just the general set up of the town. We ended up at Senor Frogs and spent some time there. Friday was another busy day poolside and the day ended at the Spa where I partook in the spa room (hot tub, steam room, sauna, etc.) and then had a spa pedicure. Friday night we didn't stay out too late. No one wanted to party too hard since we were leaving the next day. Saturday morning, I woke up early to watch the sunrise. That was a tranquil experience. I can't remember ever watching the sunrise, and seeing it rise above the ocean was really relaxing. The rest of the morning was spent on The Stage hearing and watching the waves crash on the shore....which by the way, is the BEST sound and sight in this world. We had to leave our resort at noon, and although I was sad to leave, I was excited at the same time because I was ready to see my sweet girl! Just a few fun notes from this trip....
