Kathryn's First and Last Day Going to The Red Barn

Busy Week!

This has been a busy week for us all.  First, we switched Kaden from formula to whole milk which in turn switched him from bottles to sippy cups.  We did this cold turkey (as we did with Kathryn), and it worked out perfectly.  He made the change smoothly, and now he LOVES milk.  We also switched Kaden to all table foods (and, he LOVES all foods...literally, he eats a ton and gets so excited about food).  All of this was bittersweet.  Since I know this is my last baby, things like this have been just a little harder.  I know that I won't miss making and washing bottles, but part of me will miss it because it means my baby boy is growing up.  Furthermore, Kaden has mastered going up the stairs in the house, and he is quick!  We are going to have to really keep an eye on him; he is a busy, busy boy!  And, Kathryn had her last day at The Red Barn today.  Again, bittersweet.  On her last day of daycare, she proudly walked into her room and loudly announced, "Today is my last day."  I wanted to cry.  And, since Thursdays are show and tell days, she put a lot of thought into her last show and tell item.  She took her little Bible.  I was so proud of her!  I am excited to spend the rest of the summer with Kathryn before she starts Kindergarten, but I am also sad that her time at The Red Barn is over.  There are so many things I am going to miss about her being there.  This just all indicates that my baby girl is growing up, and it is happening fast!

Weekend Wrap Up...Firsts and lasts making one Mommy emotional

Friday was Kathryn's last "Treasure Box" and "Fun in the Sun" day at The Red Barn.  And for some reason, this had me extremely emotional.  I know she has to grow up, and I am so excited for each new adventure in her life, but it is all bittersweet.  Part of me wants her to stay 4 and at The Red Barn forever.  I am excited to spend the rest of the summer with her.  We are going to have lots of girl time.  So, this is my last week of summer break child free (again, bittersweet).  Kathryn's official last day of preschool will be this Thursday.  I am going to need lots of Kleenex!

Saturday, Kaden got his first haircut.  Again, I was so emotional!  I am truly cherishing each of his "firsts" because I know he is our last baby.  Kaden was so good during his haircut.  And, we were pleased with the final product.
Prepping for his first cut...Although I LOVE his longer hair, it was getting in his eyes

All done!
Looking good!
After his haircut, Kathryn and I headed to Nashville with Maxx and Aimee to see Sesame Street Live.  It was really cute, and the kids had a blast!  Kathryn even got to hug a couple of the characters.

Loving life!

Sunday we went to church and then spent the afternoon at the pool.  Kathryn had a blast jumping in the pool with no floaty.  Kaden didn't care for the pool as much this time, but he did like playing with the pool toys by the lounge chairs.

One of my favorite sights to see...the kids simply playing together

Ice Cream Truck Day at The Red Barn

During the summer, every Wednesday is Ice Cream Truck Day.  Kathryn really looks forward to this each week.  This past Wednesday, I got to see her in action...

NKOTB!

Bottom line: I love NKOTB!!!!!  They did a "Package Tour" with 98 Degrees and Boys II Men.  Needless to say, it was an awesome concert.  I wish Boys II Men would have played a longer segment, because they were amazing.  And, NKOTB did not disappoint.  New Kids on the Block were my first concert (I was in 5th grade).  My mom said at that concert I almost passed out when they walked out on the stage.  And, this past Tuesday night, I didn't almost pass out, but I definitely felt my heart flutter.  They still had great vocals and smooth dance moves.  This was likely one of the loudest concerts I have ever been too.  My ears were ringing when we left.  Jordan Knight was my all time favorite, so I was most excited to see him.  It was a fun night out with my brother in law Michael.  FUN TIMES!!!!!

Father's Day Gifts

Kyle received a few fun gifts...Oakland A's tee shirt (his favorite baseball team), Florida State tee shirt, and tickets to the FSU/Miami game this fall.  He also receive a card made by Kathryn and some other treats made at school.  Back for Mother's Day, Kathryn gifted me a book (made a school) that was similar to the questionnaire below.  Kyle loved it, so I knew I wanted to do something similar for him for Father's Day.  Here is our version...these were Kathryn's answers word for word...

My silly girl

I picked up Kathryn from school last week and she was wearing this.  Kathryn and her friend Sarah Eskew put on a puppet show for me.  It was so cute.  I wish I would have carried my phone inside and I could have videoed the show.  Kathryn loves The Red Barn and her Red Barn friends.

Weekend Wrap Up: Father's Day Style

We had a great weekend!!!  Friday night, we went to a Sounds game (as per Daddy's choice).  It was Kaden's first baseball game and a beautiful night for a game.  As always, Kathryn had a blast, and Kaden seemed to enjoy himself too.  We had a couple of friends join in on the Friday night fun...The Hawkins Family and Goodman, Heather, and her son EC.  Funny enough, we all just sat around and talked...it was really like there wasn't even a game going on.  Everyone had a blast.

Saturday morning, Kathryn and I headed to Franklin with Mimi and spent the day shopping and had lunch at one of our favs Dumplings.  We got the kiddos lots of clothes and enjoyed a girls day out!

Saturday night, Momma Pam came to babysit while Kyle and I went to a wedding and then an APSU Basketball Fundraiser.  Kyle and I enjoyed some adult time.  Sunday was Father's Day.  We went to church, lunch at the Luthers, and the rest of the day was spent at home playing and relaxing.  It was the perfect way to spend Father's Day.  Kathryn and Kaden are so fortunate to have Kyle as their Daddy.  He is truly a loving father and a great example of a wonderful Daddy.  I know one day they will see how lucky they are.

A few pics taken before church...I LOVE that Kaden is really smiling for pics now.  It is the cutest!!!
