This past Sunday, our bunco group held its first family event. The gathering was without a doubt a huge success. Our bunco group now has 17 girls. We met for the first time in September of 2005, and there are several of us that are a part of the original crew. I love my bunco girls, and I look forward to hanging with them each month. And, I guess I should note here, that we call it bunco, but we never play. We just gather for dinner and girl time, and I love it!
None the less, we all got together with our families and had a pool party and cookout. The kids had a blast playing together in the pool, and we all enjoyed hamburgers and hotdogs, side dishes, and some of the best desserts I have had in a long time. The weather was absolutely perfect for hanging out poolside, watching the kiddos play, and talking with all our families. It was a great time, and I feel sure this will become a yearly tradition! And, a BIG THANKS to the Jenkins for allowing us to use their home...again.
Friends!

Long Time No Blog...
I can't believe it has almost been a month since my last post. I am not sure where the time has gone, and in order to catch up...I am literally looking at my calendar to see where to begin. Since July 22nd, I have obviously been too busy to blog. The biggest change...school has started back. This is always bittersweet. I enjoy seeing my coworkers and getting ready for the school year, but I MISS my summer break and all the freedom that it entails.
However, we ended our summer on a fun note! On Saturday, July 23rd, we went to Margaux's 1st birthday party. Margaux's mommy Shelby did an adorable farm theme, and the party was a blast. Kathryn had a great time playing with her friends, especially Jack.
The following weekend, we had Kathryn's three year pics taken by Stacey. The pics are AMAZING! Check them out here...http://slbh418.zenfolio.com/p718609620
The next big thing that happened...insert drum roll here...Kathryn slept in a big girl bed for the first time on Tuesday, August 2nd. This was a big deal for us, because she had been in her crib up until this point. Kathryn LOVED her crib, therefore I was in no big hurry to rush her out of it. She never tried climbing out or anything like that, she was very content in there, and I am convinced would have stayed in there until she was 5 had we let her. I was most impressed because this transition happened with great ease. Part of the reason it took so long for us to make the change is we were waiting for her furniture. Mimi and Papa gave us some maple furniture that belonged to Mimi's grandparents. We took the furniture to Camden, TN for it to be stripped and painted white. We also had the brass hardware taken off and replace with clear glass hardware. Let me just say, the furniture looks AMAZING. I absolute love it. It is my favorite furniture in the house, and since it belonged to Phyllis's grandparents, it makes it that much more special. My biggest regret...not taking pics before the furniture was redone. It was a total transformation. I will post pics of her room in another post (I am still finalizing the details on the room, so it's not quite ready to be photographed). This is random, but I need to document...we explained to Kathryn that we were taking her furniture to Camden for it to be re-finished. So, when anyone asked about her big girl room, she would say, "My big girl furniture is at Camden's house." It was too cute!
The next big thing, Kathryn turned THREE!!!!! I am not sure how this happened so quickly, but instead of being sentimental about it, I am celebrating it! Once again, I will post party details and pics in another post.
And lastly, Kathryn went for her 3 year well check up, and all is good. She is a healthy little girl weighing in at 29 pounds and is 36 inches tall. She falls in the 50th percentile for height and weight. The doctor said based on this, her predicted height as an adult would be 5 feet 4 inches tall, but seeing that her mommy is 5 foot 10 and daddy is 6 foot 3, she will likely be taller than 5 foot 4....time will tell!
