It is the most wonderful time of the year (okay, maybe the second most wonderful time of the year)...none the less, summer break is here! I always get so excited once May hits because I know the month will fly by and school will be out. However, there are so many more emotions that go into the closing of each year.
As a special education teacher, I generally teach my students for three years in a row seeing them two hours a day. Naturally, during this time, I become very close and attached to them (even the ones that drive me crazy). So, EVERY SINGLE YEAR as the buses are pulling out on that final day in May blowing their horns nonstop (and, it is a beautiful sound might I add), I ALWAYS get emotional and cry. Don't get me wrong, I am happy that my students (my 8th graders) have progressed and are moving up to the high school, but it makes me very sad that I won't see them much from this point on. I can't really describe in words the way I feel during this time of year, because I am so excited to have the summer off and to spend lots of quality time with my family. I guess one word to sum it up is bittersweet.

Converstions with a two year old
1. Mommy singing, "Teach me how to dougie, teach me how to dougie..." Kathryn, "No mom, it doesn't go like that." Me, "How does it go?" Kathryn, "Teach me how to ducky!" And then she begins singing.
2. Kathryn, "What are you doing Daddy?" Daddy, "Looking at someone beautiful (meaning Kathryn)." Kathryn says with excitement, "OH! My Mommy!" So sweet!
With a two year old in the house, no conversation is ordinary!

A Whole Lot of Fun!
The past few weeks have been loaded with lots of fun events. Since coming back from Cabo, we have have been to a Lady Gaga concert (it was strange...to say the least), gone to a Sounds game, flew to Memphis for the Grizzlies game, celebrated birthdays for the dad in law, Aiden Childers, and Emerie Henley, and had a crafty bunco. These are just a few of the fun things that have gone on. We are gearing up for a busy weekend and looking forward to the end of the school year. Life is good!
Above are some pics from the last couple of weeks
