Morning Walks at Liberty Park

Each morning on my way to work, I stop by Liberty Park to walk a mile.  I try to get there by 7 AM and am done and at work by 7:25.  I LOVE this part of my day.  The fresh air and taking in the outdoors is the best way to clear my mind before going in for the work day.  

And yes, I still workout at Orange Theory every morning at 5 AM, and I absolutely love it!  But there is something special about this walk each morning outside.  It just hits different!

This weekend was a busy one...Kyle woke up Friday morning sick...went to the doc...strep positive...thumbs down!  He pretty much rested the entire weekend to try to get better.  

Kathryn had her first home game of the football season.  She and her friends went to dinner and then had a blast at the game...neon themed!  

Kaden and I had dinner together and then watched the Dog Man Movie together.  

Saturday was filled with flag football for Kaden.  They lost their first game and won their second.  Kaden played well both games!

Sunday after church, grocery shopping, and lunch...we spent time doing things around the house, Kaden has basketball and then youth group, and in the midst of it all, I went with Kathryn to play tennis.  I can't lie, it was an exhausting day for sure!  But, we were productive!  

Katy Perry Concert on a School Night!

 

Kyle and I were invited to a suite for the Katy Perry concert last night, and we said yes!  It was actually fun to get away on a school night.  We had dinner at Blanco, walked downtown Nash, and then headed to the concert.  We didn't stay for the entire event, but we did have a great time.  Katy Perry is so talented, and I am glad we got to see her live!

Weekending...Friday night, we had family dinner at Dock 17, and then Kyle and I ran some errands.  Kathryn attended her first party...drinking was available but she decided to not partake.  We talked to her extensively about safety before the party.  We dropped her off at the party, she didn't stay long, and she caught a ride with friends.  They went to Target and then back to her friend's house where she asked me to come and get her.  I was proud of her responsibility.  And, I am also proud of her for going to the party.  Parenting is a true balancing act!  

Saturday, we were at the football fields early.  Kaden had two games.  They lost both, but he seemed to have a good time.  He played hard, and he played well.  After his games, Kathryn and I met up with a friend and her daughter for a lunch date, and Kaden went to a bday pool party for his friend Parker.  That evening, Kyle and I attended an APSU football event.  It was a busy day...but a fun one!

Sunday after church, we spent the day at home relaxing and recharging (and cleaning up a little!).  Weekends like this are nice...a little bit of everything!

Kathryn's Last High School Open House!

 

Last night we had Kathryn's final open house.  All of her teachers spoke very highly of her, and it seems like this is going to be an awesome year for her!  She showed me her seat in each class.  It was fun walking the halls with my girl.  SENIOR YEAR!!!!!  All.the.emotions!!!!!

Some weekends are busier than others...this was a busy one!  Friday night was Kathryn's bday and we celebrated all evening.  Saturday morning we hit the Farmer's Market.  We were at Flag Football for Kaden by noon.  He won his first game and lost the second.  After football, Kyle and I headed to Flying High.  We had a fun night with friends while supporting our local museum.  Sunday, we got home and crashed!  I think after an incredibly busy week and weekend, my body need to rest.  So that is what I did.  All. Day. Long!

This week is always the busiest for me...in one week, I go back to work from Summer Break, Kathryn and Kaden both have their first day of school, and both Kathryn and Kaden have birthdays...all in the same week.  As if that wasn't enough...this year, my mom got really sick the Saturday before this week.  She had Covid and a blood clot in her right lung, her kidneys were not functioning, and she has a big blood clot in her left leg which was a result of her hardly moving due to knee pain in her left knee which turns out that knee has a fracture, a torn meniscus, and a bakers cyst.  So balancing taking care of and visiting her in the hospital while managing back to work/school and bdays for the kids...it was a week!  I am glad to have that week behind me, and here's to hoping the rest of August is boring!

And just like that, my girl is 17!  Kathryn planned her whole evening with family...Papa and Uncle Jay came over for dinner.  Kathryn's request was homemade Lemon and Caper Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Peas, and Brussel Sprouts.  For dessert, we had her fav Chantilly Cake.  After dinner, per her request, we played Mario Kart as a family, and we ended the night playing Spades while watching Harry Potter.  I love that my girl wanted to spend the night at home with us.  It was a pretty perfect birthday!!!!!

Kathryn, you are 17, and the world is out there waiting for you.  I know you are going to do big things, and I can't wait to see your future unfold.  You are smart, kind, and beautiful.  Your love for Jesus shines bright.  You are one of the very best people I know.  I love you beyond measure!!!!
