Today was one of those days that I thought I had such a wonderful day planned...I forgot to consider how quickly my 3 year old melts down when he is tired...lesson learned...
This morning started out at Vandy for a follow up appointment from Kaden's hypospadias repair. He is definitely experiencing some "deflecting" when he urinates due to scarred tissue. We will re-evaluate in a year to determine if he is able to compensate or if we need another surgery. Since we were in Nashville, I decided it would be a great day to swing by ICE at Opryland. The kids LOVED it and had a blast. There was hardly anyone there, and therefore no line for the slides so the kids did that for a long time. Kaden would have kept sliding, but Kathryn after multiple slides was ready to move on because it was so cold. ICE is incredible...so much talent in the artwork. It is truly a sight to see, and I am glad we have made this event annual. After ICE, since we were at Opryland, I decided we would run into the mall to Build A Bear. At the start of Christmas break, Kathryn made a list of 3 things she wanted to do while on break. Build A Bear was one of the three, so I thought it would be smart to knock that out while in Nashville. The Build A Bear line was LONG and SLOW! Kaden was becoming impatient, and I was too...never a good combo. We finally made it out of there and ate a late lunch in the food court. Before getting on the road, we made a bathroom stop...and this is where it really fell apart. Kaden decided he did not want to leave the mall. I literally carried him out of the mall like a football while he was screaming and crying...snot streaming from his nose as well as drool from his mouth...it was epic! Poor Kathryn was trying to hold both Build A Bear boxes and my drink from lunch. People were staring, I was sweating, and when I finally got to the car it took me forever to buckle him in because he was thrashing around like a wild animal. Needless to say, it was not a fun moment. However, looking back it...it is kind of funny...let's be honest...THIS IS REAL LIFE! Thankfully, he fell asleep on the way home. Once home, Haven and Robert came over so the kids could build Gingerbread houses. This was so fun, and I hope we make it an annual tradition! After that, Kyle and I along with the Bowles, Moores, and Fran went to dinner and then to see the new Star Wars movie. By the end of the night, I was beyond exhausted. It was definitely a busy, fun filled, chaotic, memorial day!!!
